Antoinette "Chickie" Santoemmo, age 75, of West Warwick, RI (formerly of New Haven/East Haven, CT), passed away on Thursday September 21, 2017, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. She was the beloved wife of the late Salvatore Santoemmo.
Chickie was born in New Haven on January 1, 1942, daughter of the late George and Lillian Zeoli Lacey, and grew up on Borrman Road in East Haven. She attended local schools and formed lasting friendships. Chickie was an avid animal lover who was on the board of directors of SAFE (Save Animals from Elimination) for multiple years. She saved the lives of homeless animals and found them suitable homes but, more often than not, they would be end up in HER home because she would fall in love with them. Antoinette worked for many years at Henry Richards and Conair Inc. and provided home care children for whom she was like a second mother.
Family and friends were Chickie's love and joy. She loved to cook and bake chocolate chip cookies. She often hosted the holidays and she would prepare a feast for all with an open door for anyone to join.
Antoinette is survived by her 2 children, Robert Santoemmo and his wife Rhonda of Clinton and Michael Santoemmo of West Warwick, RI; her grandson Nicholas, whom she adored, nieces and nephews, and the rest of her relatives and friends. Antoinette was preceded in death by her sister, RoseAnn Barone.
