Entered into eternal rest on December 22, 2011, Arthur E. Arpin of Branford, formerly of Hamden. He was the husband of the late MaryAnn Tiskus Arpin.
Mr. Arpin was born August 3, 1919, in New Haven, son of the late Jean F. and Ellen Purcell Arpin. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. He worked as a Production Control Expeditor for many companies until retiring from Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation in 1986.
Mr. Arpin was a resident of Hamden for nearly 50 years, until moving to Cheshire for a year and then to Branford for the past year. He loved to go ice skating, bike riding, and walking. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren in their sporting events for Cheshire High School softball and ice hockey. He became known as "Grampa on the bus" by the hockey team when he joined them on the ride back to the school after the state championship win in 2009. He was an avid model railroader, bird watcher, and a big fan of UConn women's basketball.
He is survived by his children, Michele A. Arpin of Cheshire, Lisa E. Arpin of Branford, and Russell F. (Vicki) Arpin of Cheshire, and their children, Nicole (fiancÚ Captain Michael T. Petersen, U.S. Army) Arpin of Wallingford, and Tyler Arpin of Cheshire. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his seven brothers and sisters.
Funeral from the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St., Branford Tuesday morning at 9:30 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church at 10 AM. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven. Friends may call Monday from 4 – 7 PM.
