In Old Saybrook, November 4, 2011, Catherine Altrui, formerly of Palmer Rd., Branford. She was the wife of the late Joseph Altrui. She is the mother of Christine Gorski of Branford, Andrea Bakoledis of Old Lyme, and Jo-Ann Bonnett (husband Hank) of North Carolina. She is the grandmother of Michele Tackett, Lisa Welch, Kimberly Bakoledis, Andrew J. Bakoledis, Leonard Gorski Jr., Linda Whipple, Laura Pekins, Lois Ignatowski, Daniel Bonnett, and Jennifer Stith. She is also survived by her twin sister Anna Ifkovic, her sister Eleanor Furman, and 20 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sisters Mary Ignatowski, Margaret Dzuirgot and Rose Haynes; her brothers John Farkash, Joseph Farkash, and Alex Farkash, and her great-granddaughter Kristiana Faith Tackett.
Catherine was born in Guilford on January 26, 1919, a daughter of Joseph and Eva Farkash. She owned Catherine's Ceramics in Branford. She worked at the Sero Shirt Factory in Branford and also worked for the Branford Board of Education for 10 years. She was a parishioner of St. Mary Church in Branford. She was an avid seamstress and a devoted grandmother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 at St. Mary Church in Branford. Burial will be private. The W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St. Branford is in care of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association, 753 Boston Post Rd. Guilford, CT 06437.
