Dr. Stephen W. Yardan, beloved husband of 43 years to Lorraine Fornal Yardan of 210 Stony Creek Rd., Branford, died suddenly in New Haven, July 5, 2010.
He was the father of Stephen J. Yardan of Branford, and Dr. Christopher M. Yardan of Hollywood, FL. He is also survived by his twin sister, Carole (Thomas) Partridge of West Haven, many nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Dolly.
He was born in New Haven, June 1, 1944, son of Arlene Doolan Yardan of West Haven and the late Stephen J. Yardan. He graduated from St. Francis School in New Haven, Notre Dame High School of West Haven, and St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA. He received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from Temple University in Philadelphia. Dr. Yardan loved practicing dentistry in Branford and enjoyed socializing with his many patients. He was an accomplished chef, exceptional hand ball player, sailor and gentleman farmer who rode his International tractor with joy.
He was a member of the CT State Dental Association and served as secretary, treasurer and vice-president of the Shoreline Dental Society, as well as serving on the board of the Branford VNA. He was an Eagle Scout, and was a longtime member of the Pine Orchard Yacht and Country Club, the Quinnipiack Club, The Elks Club, the Loafers Club and the YMCA. Dr. Yardan loved his profession and his family and enjoyed researching his genealogy back to the 1200's.
In addition to his personal accomplishments and accolades, Dr. Stephen Yardan valued education, character and above all else devotion to his family and friends.
Funeral from the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main Street, Branford, Thursday morning at 9:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Therese Church at 10:00. Burial will follow in Stony Creek Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 – 8 PM at the funeral home.
