Obituary

Edna Beamon Arrington, 100, was born September 21, 1909 to the late John Ukless Beamon and Priscilla Gatling in Sunbury, NC. She departed this life on Monday March 15, 2010 in Branford Hills Health Care Center.

Her parents moved to Branford when Edna was very young. She attended the Branford school system. She is a chartered member of the St. Stephen A. M. E. Zion Church in Branford which was founded May 23, 1923. She was involved in many aspects of Church life. She was a Missionary, Deaconess, she sang in the Gospel Choir, and was a member of the Willing Workers, and was the mother of the church. Whatever needed to be done, she did her best to see that it got done. She attended up until September 2009.

She married the late Harvey L. Arrington and to this union was born eight children, she leaves to cherish her memories, Bertha Lucas of NYC, Audrey Corbett of Branford, Jack Arrington of New Haven, Joan (Kenneth) Barboza of Branford, Patricia Arrington of Clinton, CT, 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Those who preceded her in death are three sons, Herbert, Arthur and Kenneth Arrington, two brothers, James L. Beamon and John U. Beamon, Jr., three sisters, Irene Lewis, Ellen Brazzell and Esther Brooks.

Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service Saturday morning at 11:00 in St. Stephens A. M. E. Zion Church, Branford, and may call at the church from 10 – 11 AM. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Branford.

Memorial donations may be sent to St. Stephens A. M. E. Zion Church's Ministry of Kindness, 31 Rogers St., Branford, CT 06405.
