Obituary

Elizabeth A. Maddern Ballou, widow of Walter W. Ballou, passed away on April 9, 2011 in Hamden. Born May 2, 1932 in New Haven, she was the daughter of the late R. Edwin and Hildur (Mattson) Maddern. She was a graduate of Branford High School and graduated from the Grace New Haven Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Branford and had been a member of the Church Choir, active in the Trifolium sewing group crafting items for the annual church fair. She enjoyed quilting and fishing with her late husband and was an avid Red Sox fan.

She was also predeceased by her step-sister and brother, Edwina M. Robinson and Whitby K. Maddern. She is survived by her sister in law Susan Maddern of Guilford, her cousind Barbara Mattson of Branford, Marie Schoepke of Hardy, VA, Carolyn Malo of New Hampshire and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church in Branford on Friday May 6 at 10:00 A.M. Contributions in Elizabeth's memory can be made to the Trinity Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, 1109 Main St. Branford, CT 06405. The W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St. Branford is in care of arrangements.
