Frank Atwater, A.K.A. Mugsy Atwater passed away on Thursday April 16. He was a lifelong resident of Driscoll Rd. in Branford. At one time he ran Atwater's Christmas Tree Farm on Driscoll Rd. in Branford. He also had a fire wood business years ago and would deliver hand split cords of fire wood throughout Branford and neighboring towns.
He was a Sergeant with the Connecticut National Guard before acquiring a job working for the State Highway Department. After retiring from the highway department he kept busy honing his gardening skills, growing tomatoes, squash, pumpkins and strawberries.
He was a connoisseur of vintage guns and ammo. He was a regular visitor at local gun shops, favoring the still fairly new TGS Outdoors shop in Branford's town center. He loved the town he grew up in and could be spotted daily touring the streets of Branford in his Dodge pickup truck, stopping at his favorite haunts, the Branford Supply Pond, the Branford town dock and McDonalds on West Main St.
He is survived by his wife Betty Atwater of Branford; his six children Mary Atwater of Branford, Frank Atwater Jr. of East Haven, Daniel E.
