After a wonderful life of 92 years, Frank (Pop) Pandolfi of East Haven, CT and Edgewater, FL. departed into eternal life on May 21, 2017 after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Elvira (Santarcangelo) Pandolfi and a true and cherish girlfriend Joan Carden of Branford.
Frank was born as Francesco Pandolfi on October 3, 1924, the son of the late Guiseppi and Angela Pandolfi of North Haven. He served in the Armed Forces at the 92nd General Hospital in Germany during World War II. In 1956 he moved to East Haven and opened East Haven Garage at 556 Main Street and then relocated to 175 Main Street until the redevelopment bought the property early in the 1970s. He then worked at Southern Connecticut Gas Company as a fleet mechanic until his retirement in 1989. After retirement Frank kept himself very busy with his son and grandson at United Towing. He also loved working at Onofrio's in New Haven and helping Viauso Farms at the farmers market on Sundays.
Frank was a member of the Harry R. Bartlett Post 89 American Legion in East Haven for over 60 years, a member of the First Independent Club of New Haven, and the Marchegian Club. He also ran for town constable for two years during the 1960s, and enjoyed donating his classic cars in town parades.
Frank leaves two sons Joseph J. Pandolfi (Christine Kasper) of Milford and David F. Pandolfi of Branford. He also leaves his loving two grandchildren Melissa and Matthew Pandolfi, his former daughter in law Roseann Pandolfi , his nieces and nephews and beloved sister Julia Pohoda of North Haven, he was pre-deceased by his sister Rose Piscatelli, brothers Vincent and Joseph Pandolfi.
Funeral arrangements will be made by W.S. Clancy Funeral Home 244 North Main Street, Branford. Family and friends may call Thursday, May 25 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial Friday will take place at 10:00 am in St. Mary Church, Branford. Burial will follow in Saint Agnes Cemetery, Branford.
