Henry Walter ZuWalick, 85, passed away peacefully at Talmadge Park, East Haven on October 5, 2010. He was the husband of the late Genevieve L. ZuWalick.
He was born June 19, 1925 in the Brushy Plain section of Branford, son of the late Henry J. and Mary Jabloska ZuWalick. Following his marriage in 1945, he moved across town to his beloved farm which would later become ZuWalick Lane. He was the founder of the H. W. ZuWalick & Sons Sawmill and worked side by side with his sons and later, his grandsons, until his retirement. Besides running his business, he enjoyed tractors, farming, raising animals, and especially being with his family. With a charming smile and a good sense of humor, Henry made friends wherever he went. He was a parishioner of St. Therese Church in Branford.
Henry is survived by his three sons, H. Bruce ZuWalick of Madison, Jack (wife Judith) ZuWalick, Sr. of Branford, and David ZuWalick (wife Christine Ackerman) of Branford; and his four grandchildren, Jennifer (husband Christopher) Sullivan of Northford, Jack ZuWalick, Jr. of Branford, and Joshua and Eric ZuWalick, both of California. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Monday October 18, at 11:30 am in St. Therese Church, Branford. There are no calling hours and burial will be private. The W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Branford is in charge of arrangements.
