Obituary

Howard Eugene Cole of East Haven, died Sunday May 14, 2017 at home. He was the son of the late Florence Marie and Howard Cole, brother to the late Evelyn (Albert), brother to Robert Cole (Dorothy). Loving father and teacher to David (Lorraine), Frank (Susan) and Cathy (Craig); grandfather of 7 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren and 2 step-great grandchildren, Jonathan (Amanda), Kelsey, Jared, Ryan Logan, Ryan Andrew, Madison, Connor, Amberlee (Shane), Anastasia, Victoria, Justine, Jonathan, Conner, and Zayne. Uncle to Patty, Karen, Larry, Gary, and Tom. Wonderful husband and comapnaion to his wife Barb (Barbara) of almost 56 years.

He was blessed with perfect pitch and and sang in church choirs since grade school (the last at Morrison Methodist in Leesburg, Florida). He also sang in musical plays, chorales, community choirs, and sang solo's at weddings. He auditioned for the Fairfield County Chorale and learned to sing the German Requiem by listening to a record. He belonged to many musical bands and could play any instrument but string. He transposed his music to play is Eb Tuba.

He was artistic as well as a draftsman. He worked for Fairchild Recreational Vehicles, where he took a parts department consisting of one shelf and built it into a major store. RV'ers from Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New York, as well as Connecticut came to obtain their parts. He also sold caps for the trucks.

He belonged to Ansantawae Lodge #89 AF & AM (Ancient Free and Accepted Masons) in Milford. He was a Past High Priest of Milford Chapter #49, and Past Worthy Patron of Lucia Chapter #25, Order of the Eastern Star.

He was a Korean War veteran having served in the U. S. Navy as a radar man on the destroyers USS Miller and the USS Perry.

Visiting hours will be Wednesday May 17, from 4:00 - 6:00 PM with a service at 6:00 at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford.
