John B. Ammann, of Branford died peacefully Wednesday November 18, 2015 at his home with his family by his side. He was the husband of Ann Marie Mann Ammann.
Mr. Ammann was born June 3, 1940 in New Haven, son of the late Edwin G. and Cecelia Garvey Ammann. He served in the U. S. Air Force in the Vietnam War, and served in the U. S. Army during Operation Desert Storm. Mr. Ammann was a flight line electrician for Sikorsky for 22 years until retiring in 2000.
John was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Branford, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Eldorado Council 10, American Legion Post 83and the VFW Post 10186 all in Branford. He was a member of St. Mary High School, Class of 1958 and was a member of the St. Mary Church "Guys Out to Lunch" club. John volunteered at the Branford Food Pantry and at St. Mary School in Branford.
Besides his wife, John is survived by his children, Kathryn Sekscenski (Joshua Bickle) of Meriden, Thomas (Jordana) Ammann of Norwalk, Jennifer (William) Coombs of Branford, J. Brendan Ammann of Branford, Luke (Lisa) Ammann of Cincinnati, OH, and Victoria (Jamie) Gonzalez of Middlefield, CT; his grandchildren, Lydia, Amanda, Julia, Nicholas, and Madelyn Sekscenski; Walter John Coombs and Joshua Luke Ammann; his great-granddaughter, Abigail Blodgett. He was predeceased by his brother Robert Ammann and his sister Mary Ammann.
Relatives and friends may call Friday evening from 5 – 8 PM at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, and are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday morning at 10:00 in St. Mary Church, Branford. Entombment will be is St. Agnes Cemetery.
