In Branford August 28, 2008, John F. Wynne, Sr., husband of the late Geraldine Caron Wynne of 185 Hotchkiss Grove Rd., Branford, formerly of Woodbridge.
He was born in New Haven September 18, 1920, a son of the late Judge Kenneth and Mary Fielding Wynne. He was a graduate of Hopkins, 1939, and Dartmouth College in1943, and then served in the U. S. Navy during World War II.
After the war he graduated from St. John's University School of Law in 1951 and was admitted to the Connecticut Bar in 1951. He practiced law with Emanuelson and Wynne for 36 years and has been with Buckley & Wynne in New Haven for the past 21 years. He was a member of the New Haven County Bar Association and the Connecticut Bar Association.
While living in Woodbridge he was a member of the Board of Education from 1955 – 1963, and was a member of the Board of Fire Commissioners from 1970 – 1987. He was a former member of the Quinnipiack Club in New Haven.
He is survived by his son John F. Wynne, Jr. of Branford; daughters, Mimi O'Brien of Branford, Gigi Demick of Tampa, FL, and Kathy Satti of New London; sisters, Barbara Secor of Vero Beach, FL, Betsey Wynne of Branford, Mary Bohonnon of Madison, and Louise Gigon of Wethersfield; and nine grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Kenneth Wynne.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours Monday September 1, from 4 – 8 PM at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Branford, and may attend a memorial Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday morning at 11:00 in St. Mary Church, Branford. Burial will be private.
