Marie V. Grasso of Branford, died Saturday May 20, 2017 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. She was born January 20, 1942 in St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Leonard and Jinnie Scinto Grasso. She was a wonderful caring and dedicated mother to Jinnielynn Howell and Barronlee Grasso, and mother-in-law to Terry Howell and Justine Guckin.
Mom worked most of her life in factories, Bryant Electrical and Harvey Hubbell with many side jobs as a waitress to give her two children a great and meaningful life raising us on her own. Mom was on bowling leagues, a sharp shooter and instructor at the Stratford Armory, and mentored young school children; these were just a few of her hobbies. She is a grandmother to Jinnielynn's children, Tristan, James and Kendra with two great grandchildren of Kendra's, Savannah and Zoey. Also a grandmother to Barronlee's children, Brandon, Kirstie, Taylor, and Nicholas.
Marie spent 10 years living in Missouri close to Jinnielynn and the last 11 years here in Branford, She loved the ocean and everyday would sit by the water with her coffee, read and do crossword puzzles. Mom will be missed, never forgotten and always in our hearts. Mom loves turtles and not just the live ones; also figurines and such which means her favorite color is (lime) green. She doesn't want to see any black at her wake and funeral, preferably green, and try not to cry as she likes it when everybody is happy. Today is a celebration of life, her eternal life with the Lord. I heard she is going to be making ice cream sundaes for all our departed family, friends and others.
Please join us in celebrating Marie's new life by visiting Wednesday evening from 5:00 -8:00 PM at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford. A beautiful church funeral service will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 at the Mary Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church, 168-176 Broad Street, on the Green (mom's favorite color. lol) in Milford.
