Pierre Lier, beloved husband of Elda Estrada Lier of Branford, died Saturday March 2, 2013 at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Mr. Lier was born April 14, 1938 in The Hague, Netherlands, a son of the late Pieter and Franciska Ermer Lier. He immigrated to New York in 1961. He then earned his degree, with honors, in Mechanical Engineering from New York City Community College, leading to his career with Greenwald Industries in Chester for 49 years.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Brian F. (Christina Jackson-) Lier of Hamden, Susan E. Lier (Eric Kiesel) of Massapequa, NY, and Peter V. Lier (Jaime Reynolds) of East Haven; his grandchildren, Samantha Lier and Megan Faulkner; and his brothers, Jan Lier and Frank Lier of Holland.
His funeral will leave the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St., Branford, Wednesday morning at 9:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Elizabeth Church at 10:00. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
