Robert T. Baker Jr., Retired Battalion Chief, NHFD, died in New Haven on December 17, 2011. He is the husband of Vivian Ward Baker of Branford. He is the father of Merilee Baker Roussat (husband Maxwell) of Branford and Kelly Baker (wife Sarah Buck) of New Haven. He is the brother of Lenore Schoen (husband Alex) of Branford. He is survived by his 3 grandchildren, Marin, Mathilde, and Madeleine Roussat. He is survived by his nieces & nephews Alexander Schoen IV, Megan Cimino Gonzales, Nancy Cimino, and Shannon, Jesse, and Brian Thomas. He also is survived by 1 great-niece and 1 great-nephew.
Mr. Baker was born in New Haven on November 25, 1947, a son of the late Robert and Mary Murray Baker. He was a firefighter for the city of New Haven for 28 years. He also worked for New Alliance Bank in East Haven for 7 years after retiring from the Fire Department. He was a member of the Mohegan Tribe, the American Legion Post 132, where he was treasurer, and the Knights of St. Patrick.
Friends are invited to go directly to St. Bernadette's Church in New Haven for a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10:00. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery in North Haven. Calling hours will be on Monday from 5-8 P.M. at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St. Branford. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Bernadette's Church, 385 Townsend Ave. New Haven, CT 06512.
