Roger J. Frechette, Sr., of Branford died Tuesday July 11, 2017 at Connecticut Hospice, after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara Jacob Frechette.
Mr. Frechette was born January 31, 1928 in New Haven, a son of the late Eugene and Anne Ready Frechette. He was a 1950 graduate of Dartmouth College, where he captained the baseball team. He was a graduate of the St. John's (NY) Law School. Mr. Frechette was a lawyer in New Haven for fifty years at his firm of Frechette and Frechette. He served as corporation counsel for the city of New Haven under former Mayor Bartholomew Guida, and he was a past president of the New Haven County Bar Association.
A devout catholic who attended Mass daily, he is survived by his children, Judge Matthew Frechette of Branford, Jamie Frechette of Branford, Michael (Donna) Frechette of Branford, William Frechette of Branford, Franz Frechette of Colorado, Elise Frechette of Branford, and the late Roger J. Frechette, Jr. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Eleanor Frechette and John Frechette; and his daughter-in-law, Robin Frechette.
His family would like to give a special and heartfelt thank you to their sister Elise for the amazing care given to their father during his illness.
Visiting hours will be Thursday morning from 9:30 – 11:00 at St. Therese Church, Branford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery.
