Ronald G. Arpino, 68, of Branford died unexpectedly Thursday May 24, 2012 at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
He was born May 28, 1943 in New Haven, a son of the late Carmen and Eleanor Russo Arpino. He graduated with a B.S.E.E from the University of New Haven, and received his Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Bridgeport.
He founded Rontron Engineering in Branford in 1974 and was respected around the world for his numerous inventions and innovations, specializing in the design and manufacture of microprocessor-controlled test equipment, high voltage power supply devices, medical diagnostic and surgical devices, communications systems, nuclear detection and specialized sensor equipment, consumer safety applications and the development of many other commercial and industrial systems, securing numerous patents throughout his career.
He also enjoyed working as a semi-professional musician, and was an avid private pilot for 52 years. A great friend to many, he was a kind-hearted seeker of righteousness, with a keen interest in Buddhism.
Ron is survived by his children, Holly Arpino of Centerbrook, CT, and Robert Arpino of Gilbert, AZ, and his sister Rosalie Boccamaiello of East Haven.
