Thomas L. "Tommy G" Giordano of Branford, formerly East Haven, died Sunday December 23, 2018 at the Hospital of St. Raphael Campus at YNHH. He was the beloved husband of the late Ann Lawler Giordano.
He was born in New Haven August 3, 1928, son of the late Nicholas and Anna D'Auria Giordano. He served four years in the U. S. Navy. Tom worked as a produce manager for Grand Union Supermarkets for many years until retiring.
After retiring, Tom and Ann moved to Barefoot Bay, FL in 1991 where they spent 24 memorable years. Tom returned to Connecticut three years ago after suddenly losing the love of his life. Tom was a great golfer and achieved many hole in ones. He was an avid Yankees and UCONN Womens Basketball fan and loved playing Bingo with his many friends. But he most loved spending time with his sons, son-in-law and his grand dogs.
He is survived by his sons, Michael Giordano and Joseph Giordano (Stephen Keegan) both of East Haven; his brothers Joseph "Richie" Giordano of New Haven and William (Patricia) Giordano of The Villages, FL and his dear cousins Marie "Mimi" Aiello and Angie Fusco both of East Haven. He was predeceased by his brothers Frank and Eugene Giordano and his sister Angela Giordano.
Tom's family would like to thank the entire staff at the Verdi 2 West SICU unit at St. Raphael's for the extraordinary care and compassion that they gave to him during his twelve day illness. Special thanks to the staff at The Hearth at Gardenside for making the last couple of years of Tom's life entertaining and enjoyable.
His funeral will leave the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford Saturday morning at 10:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church at St. John Bosco Parish, 731 Main Street, Branford at 11:00. Visiting hours will be Friday evening from 5:00 - 8:00.
