In New Haven May 3, 2006, Walter H. Zuraski, husband of Eugenia Drozd Zuraski of 60 South Montowese St., Branford.
Father of Joanne (Vincent) Balls of Monroe and Robert Zuraski of Washington D.C. Grandfather of Kristina Kubricky of Monroe. Pre-deceased by sisters Genevieve Zuraski and Julia Cassell, and a brother Louis Zuraski. He is also survived by nephews Kevin and Patrick Cassell and a niece, Judy Peterson.
He was born in Branford October 17, 1914, son of the late Anthony and Barbara Sovaneski Zuraski and was a lifelong resident of Branford. He was a World War II U. S. Army veteran, serving in the South Pacific. He was awarded the Bronze Star during the invasion of Mindanau in 1945. After the war he went to work for the MIF Co. in Branford until it closed and then he worked for the U. S. Post Office until retiring. He was a communicant of St. Mary Church, a life member and Past Commander of American Legion Post 83 and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10186.
Funeral from the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Branford Monday morning at 10:30 with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church at 11:00. Burial, with military honors, in St. Agnes Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 4 – 6 PM.
