William H. Patten of North Main St. Branford died on February 9 at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in West Haven. He was the husband of the late Edith Coe Patten. He was the father of Michelle Stolzenberg of Stratford and the step-father of Norma Mooney and Valerie Patten, both of California, and of Lois Colburn of Branford. He was step-father in law of Austin Colburn of Branford. He was also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his twin brother Patrick Patten.
Mr. Patten was born in New Haven on April 30, 1918, a son of William A. and Theresa Drago Patten. He served in the U.S. Navy in submarine service during World War II. He served on the USS Norwal and the USS Sunfish in the Pacific. He was a lifetime member of the Silent Service Veteran's organization, as well as a member of the Triton Chapter of Submariner's Veterans in Bridgeport. He participated in 5 National Senior Olympic Events in Swimming, and won many awards and medals.
A Graveside Service will be held at Beaverdale Cemetery in Hamden on April 30 at a time to be announced. The W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St. Branford is in care of arrangements.
